Found it was easy to replace.
Lift the lock on either end with a flat screwdriver, and then push ball holder onto ball, and it's done.

I received the pair of gas struts as ordered, and in good time too. I finally got a moment to remove the old pair and replace them with the new Braumach struts.

Yeah, they work ,but about halfway up, there's some resistance, have to push, rather than a smooth elevation like originals.

Should have replaced my old struts years ago, as these new ones stop the tailgate falling on my head.
Easy to install: Just a small flathead screwdriver to expand the spring and the old strut will pop off. Same again to pop the new strut back on. Make sure not to jab the paintwork with the screwdriver, like I did
